Title
Snow Removal Crew on Ionia Avenue NW
Subject
Description
The photograph depicts a snow removal with a conveyor belt, and scrip laborers in front of the Smith's Auto Laundry at 228 Ionia Avenue NW.
This view looks south on Ionia Avenue NW. The tall building at the northeast corner of Lyon Street NW and Ionia Avenue was built as the Furniture Temple, later known as the Commerce Building, and, in 2022, as the Lofts at 5 Lyon. The building to the immediate south of that building is the US Post Office and Court Building, later the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and in 2022, Ferris State University's Kendall College of Art and Design.
Note how the snow has been moved into the center of the street to allow access for the conveyor, while still allowing for traffic and parking.
