Firefighter Henry Beekman

This photograph is of Henry Beekman. He joined the fire department in May of 1884 and was first stationed at Fire House 1. His pay starting out was 55 cents per day. In 1888 he was stationed at Engine House 4 and by 1890 he had risen to the rank of lieutenant at Engine House 3. Henry Beekman passed away in 1940 and is buried in Fairplains Cemetery. This photograph is from circa 1884.
