The photograph depicts a snow removal with a conveyor belt, and scrip laborers in front of the Mapes-Nebelius Cadillac Co. at 246 Ionia Avenue NW.
This view looks north to Michigan Street and beyond. The large building at the northeast corner of Ionia and Michigan Street is the Armory. The turreted building on the southwest corner of the same intersection is the Fox Deluxe Brewery / Grand Rapids Brewing Company building. The steeple of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Michigan and North Division can be seen above and behind the dealership.
Note how the snow has been moved into the center of the street to allow access for the conveyor, while still allowing for traffic and parking.
